Benefits of Organic Coffee

Benefits of Organic Coffee

- March 6, 2018

Organic coffee is coffee that has been grown according to organic farming standards and techniques, in which the use of synthetic chemicals is limited, and where restrictions are placed on the use of artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.

The term organic can also refer to farms, or products from them which incorporate socially responsible activities such as recycling, composting, soil health and environmental protections.

Many countries now have specifications and certifications for food that need to be obtained to be certified as organic.

Personal Health Benefits

Contrary to popular belief, coffee itself is not where the health risks lie. Rather, the risks associated with drinking large amounts of coffee can actually be traced back to the chemical and pesticide residues when using inorganic coffee growing methods.

By growing coffee organically, health risks are dramatically decreased, simply by eliminating the artificial additives. The personal health benefits of organic coffee include:

  • High in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, coffee boosts the immune system and guards against disease
  • Free of pesticides and artificial fertilizers, organic coffee reduces the risk of harmful chemical ingestion
  • Moderate amounts of caffeine can provide a natural energy boost
